Dr. Gabriel Serrano: Science, Humanism and Leadership in Dermatology

Dr. Gabriel Serrano is one of the most influential figures in international dermatology. With over 45 years of medical experience, he has dedicated his life to research, wellbeing and patient care, becoming a global reference in both the scientific and humanitarian fields.

He earned his medical degree from the University of Valencia and holds a PhD in Medicine and Surgery cum laude. He specialized in Dermatology and Venereology, completing postgraduate studies in the United States and Europe. For more than 25 years, he served as Clinical Head of the Dermatology and Emergency Departments at the General University Hospital of Valencia, combining clinical practice with research and teaching.

In 1989, he founded Sesderma and Mediderma laboratories to address the lack of effective dermatological solutions at the time. This vision positioned him as one of the fathers of modern dermocosmetics and a pioneer in the application of nanotechnology to dermatological products and supplements. Today, the group is present in more than 85 countries with leading brands in scientific innovation.

Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Serrano is defined by his deep social commitment. Influenced from a young age by his father and grandfather—both physicians—he understood medicine as a service to others. This vocation has remained intact throughout his life, reflected in his active participation in international congresses, more than 400 scientific publications, and his continued care for patients even today.

His humanitarian commitment has been recognized with numerous international awards, including “Dermatologist of the Year,” the Rotary Club Award for Community Service, and his recent appointment as President of World Vitiligo Day 2024, a cause with which he maintains a strong personal and emotional connection.
